Devon & Torbay Councils to merge.

More power, bigger voice and ideal opportunity to obtain more funding from Central Government. Sounds great.

Also it's an opportunity to streamline operations, but oh, how many people will make up the committee? Probably too many to be effective.

At least save money by capping or even reducing the salaries of these overpaid Council employees and reduce participation to, say, 6 or 8 maximum. More diversity of involvement or opinions can be heard from subcommittees if necessary, Hopefully not.

Public opinion on the merger is being sought but if past performance of rigorous statistical analysis is anything to go by, considering the fiasco of the closure of Torbay Road and the subsequent U-turn, then expect overwhelming support for what the Councils have already decided.
