Don't Auto Renew

My present car insurance runs out in a couple of days and my current provider is still pestering me to renew with them.

Whatever the insurance, car, house or travel, I never permit the company the right to automatically renew year after year. The wisdom of this is illustrated here.

Present expiring car insurance - approx £300

Autorenewal - £471.87

Research on various comparison sites, depending on choice of excess and other options like legal provision, windscreen cover, breakdown services etc - £291.54 upwards.

My choice came in at £322.56. Everything I wanted except breakdown services as I get that elsewhere at a good price.

So, I paid a few pounds more than last year but nothing like the extra £149.31 I would have paid by allowing autorenewal. Don't do it!

Has this happened to you? Tell us about it and even make recommendations.

Same happened with my car insurance earlier this month!

So I looked at Go Compare and Tesco was the cheapest car insurance company, and with the same cover!

Stay away from ‘auto renew’
