Metre NOT Meter!

Subtitles for Jane McDonald's Japanese TV programme last night used Meters to describe a length. Meters are measuring instruments. Metres should be used for metric measures. This is not an optional choice.

OK, sorry, but it's one of my pet hates.

What are yours? I know, people who get uptight about Meter or Metre!
