Schools have gone back, tourists left the Bay and the weather is deteriorating as I speak! Not much to look forward to now apart from Christmas! Oh no! Don't start that chat yet.
So, when invited to try out the F&B and music at Molly's by Paignton Harbour we jumped at the chance. Apparently there is a good saxophonist who plays there. However, I'm not a jazz fan so my enthusiasm waned slightly. Being open-minded, yeah sure, we set off to arrive at our reserved table at about 6:30pm.
Molly's was already buzzing. The extended, heated and weatherproofed kiosk was throbbing to the music of not one, but two saxophonists. Yes, it was quite loud but what a great atmosphere provided by Daniel Costin and his Caribbean friend.
The menu consists of snacks, pizzas and smaller type dishes such as calamari rings, halloumi chips, chips and salads etc. They are reasonably priced.
So too are the liquid refreshments of beers, ciders, spirits, cocktails and wine given the venue and entertainment. For example, a Bombay Sapphire (40%) gin costs £3.80, double up for £2 and add tonic for £2. A total of £7.80 compared to £10.25 that l paid last week at Warners Resort for a double Gordon's (37.5%).
The winers and diners appeared to be aged between twenties and rather older than that! It was a friendly mixture of people out for a good time all fuelled by Daniel and friend.
The music sound in the following video clips do not do justice to the actual sound we experienced. However, they'll give you a taste of what we all enjoyed.
If you've had the patience to watch the videos above you will have seen punters dancing on tables, clapping, cheering and singing along to the music. It produced a great atmosphere all packed into a short time for us as closing was at 9pm. I expect that was ideal for the residents living close by and even for the revellers who might have to get up and go to work today.
The young staff all worked efficiently and with smiles on their faces. Well done to them and their management.
