Regarding the repairs to the flattened communications cabinet (AKA Paignton PCP40) near the Preston Down Road shops, this is the 4th time in about 7 years that a speeding vehicle has hit it. I heard that the last time it was hit (circa 18 months ago), Openreach asked if concrete posts could be sited in front of the cabinets. This request was, apparently, turned down by the high-ways authorities, who said that a speeding motorist was more likely to suffer serious injury (or worse) if colliding with a concrete post, compared to something relatively soft and yielding, like thousands worth of comms equipment.
