Serves You Right!

I quite like Manchester United, after Plymouth Argyle of course, but tonight they showed why you don't mess around passing the ball amongst yourselves near your own goal.

Yes, it's a good idea to retain possession as you advance towards the opposition's goal but don't put your own players under pressure. In tonight's case, however, apparently Harry McGuire called for the ball just outside his penalty area, got caught by three opponents and one of them scored.

It should never have happened. He shouldn't have called for the ball in that location, he shouldn't have been passed the ball in that location and this tactic shouldn't be encouraged by coaches. It turned the whole balance of the tie.

This outcome has been a long time coming and I hope the costly lesson has been learned.
