A0001. Andy Burnham says that if asylum seekers arrive by boat and commit crimes they will be deported. Surely entering the country by small boat without paperwork etc is already a crime so they should be deported? Oh no, give them a booklet they won't read about British norms of behaviour that'll stop them offending! Sure it will.
B0001. E-bikes in the news for injuring people. It will happen in Torbay soon if these modified bikes and scooters are not removed from existence. They are mostly illegal so easily spotted. Now non-electric copyca⁸t black bikes are being ridden around by young teenagers. About 14 years old I would say. Practising wheelies on public walkways trying to emulate older nuisances. Someone's going to get hurt really badly soon!!!!!
C0001. After what Megan and Harry have said about their families and Britain how can they even consider coming back to live? I hope we give them the reception they deserve. Send them to Coventry? Not literally but give them the cold shoulder at least. Just think about the costs involved? As I was reminded recently, if in doubt revisit the Oprah interview.
D0001 RIP Dolly Parton. I thought she was a great person in all aspects of her life. Sorely missed.
E0001. Disturbances in Dover then Portsmouth. Perhaps they're actioning the views of the helpless 'silent majority' who don`t condone violence??? However, both groups have the same fears. One of the biggest chat topics I know. Along with stories of the hapless functioning and service, either in person or online, but mostly not functioning, NHS. These, I feel, are the two main concerns of older people. Oh! as well as how to survive on a basic State Pension? Mmmm, plus, why are there so many people on Benefits? It appears, but is it true, that many get more money than Pensioners but have never paid in so much? Etc!
F0001 Man Utd v Man City. I think both players should have been sent off.
Too much grabbing, pulling and spoiling in the modern game. Oh! And while I'm on the subject, too much tip tapping the ball around without dynamic creativity. Long spells of boring football.
How can that not be offside? As Sir Alf said something like, " If he's not Influencing play, why's he on the pitch?" In the old book of football there were two in offside positions.
G0001. President Trump says that AI is OK as long as there is a Smart President. So when will America get one of those?
H0001 Great British Bake Off...with relatives! Pointless gimmick. What next? Bring your favourite baker to help.
I0001 Josh Widdicombe is a teleprompter reading waste of space on Strictly. Good job he's not very tall.
J0001 I recently got into a taxi driven by a pleasant Polish driver who had assessed our society by saying, " You wash my car I give you candy - you don't wash my car I still give you candy. What are you going to choose?" Seems like he's got our benefit system correct. I gave him a good tip!!
K0001 Nigel Farage would close down the UK's asylum system. Is he the only politician who has spotted what really concerns the 'average' person daily? How much money would his plans save? How much would it cost to clear all NHS waiting lists even by using private services? Anyone know? Comparing these costs might help our other leaders consider their priorities.
L0001 Fantastic rugby match between Northampton and Bath on the 10th Oct. I won't spoil it for rugby fans, but if you haven't seen it, 'try' to catch up. Yes, pun intended!!!
M0001 Just bought a new laptop from Curry's. The old one was over 14 years old so a bit slow and I lost the mouse! Read my product review, 'My Curry's Favour', coming soon.
P0001 The PM appears to want to cosy up with the EU and apparently relinquish, or dilute, our sovereignty to let other countries influence the governing of our own country. Adopting Trump tactics he sounds as if he's implying, or maybe stating, that Russia had interfered in the referendum about joining the EU. Therefore, it was wrong to join. I suggest that too many politicians have vested interests in the support they give to any decisions. All's fair in love and war, and politics? I think not!!
Q0001 Tesla unviel flying car! I was stuck in a traffic jam rwo days ago and I honestly thought about how to create one too!!! Am I a prophet?
R0001 Lunchtime meeting with seven friends today at Wetherspoons. Not many places can beat their pricing for food & beverage. Bring your own cheery chat. What better?
S0001 So we're becoming a society of 'GRUMPs'! A Daily Mail reporter said that there has been a rise in Grievance-Ridden-Urban-Midlife-Perpetrators. Basically, an increase in middle aged men being suspected of committing violent crimes has been spotted. No doubt there will be further extensive research into this trend. Theories will be offered about the causes, probably due to being deprived at some life stage or they have mental health issues. Don't worry because at least we now have a name for the condition. A bit like we used to have energetic, bored our even 'naughty' children but now we can label them as suffering from ADHD. That's better.
T0001 It took England 49.3 overs before Josh Tongue found how to bowl against Ski Lanka in today's ODI. Two wickets in two bowls left Sri Lanka needing 6 from 2 balls to win in the last over. And they did it. The damage had been done earlier by the poor bowling strategy of England. Curren, for instance, conceded over 100 runs for his 9 overs! Even village green cricketers could have scored that off his medium paced ' dollies'. The ' Moon ball' was misdirected and a failure. Other bowlers were not any better in their tactics. Completely inept, all of them. The skipper, Brook, yes a brilliant 200+ runs, but as captain he was tactically lacking. What next against Pakistan? What do you think?
U0001 Below: The last of the summer dog walks on Goodrington's South beach where they are allowed from 1st October. Storm Austen arrived today.
V0001: PET HATES : I've got a few of these! Do you? If so, then tell everyone what they are.
To start the ball rolling my first one is the misuse of "is" and "are". This was illustrated by Emma Willis on Sunday's "Strictly Come Dancing Results Show". She said, "The first couple safely through "are" ....... No! It's the first couple "is". Although a couple is two, a couple is only one couple. Shirley also said of Bethany and Nancy that , "There "was" a lot of mistakes" Yes, Shirley. There "were" a lot of mistakes. Others on BBC programmes often say things like, "there's a lot of people....". Again, no! Apostrophe "S" ('s) , as you know, is short for "is" and is therefore singular. Hence, it should be, "there are a lot of people". I'm no expert, but these mistakes are true, I think, and rile me especially when committed by BBC professionals.
While on "Strictly", what did Anton mean when he said he wanted the girl dancing couple to have "gay abandon"?
